Pittsburgh was once home to dozens of inclines, but today the Monongahela Incline and Duquesne Incline are the only ones that are in operation, still carrying passengers from Mt. Washington to the Monongahela River and downtown Pittsburgh below. Once a practical – even necessary – means of public transportation that was greatly relied upon by people who needed to quickly and easily reach the city below, today the Pittsburgh inclines are a popular sightseeing adventure and also offer easy access to great restaurants.
